IN SB 226

Update 1/26/15: Indiana SB 226 was killed in committee today with a vote of 3-5. This bill would have required a double-regulation for USDA-licensed facilities. If passed, USDA facilities not only would need to be in compliance with federal law, but also state law, and would have been inspected by both USDA and IN DNR agents.

SB 226 would no longer allow licensed commercial animal dealers to be exempt from holding state wild animal permits. View the bill below.

View the current Indiana Wild Animal Law at www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/files/fw-WildAnimalPossessionPermitReg.pdf. Permits are required for venomous reptiles and crocodilians over 5′ in Indiana, as well as some mammals (viewable at link).
